I am a community leader, professor and researcher at the South Colombian University and the Founder of ASOQUIMBO (Association of those affected by the El Quimbo hydroelectric project along the upper Magdalena River). This organization consists of a collective of farmers, fishermen, workers and local families who since 2009 have resisted the construction of the El Quimbo dam through peaceful protests, pickets, and advocacy campaigns. I am also a member of the National Coordination of the Colombian “Living Rivers Movement.” I am interested in collaborating with sustainable development and non-hydroelectric clean energy experts, human rights defenders and policy makers.
